What are EV charge cards and how do they work?
Much like a traditional fuel card, an EV charge card provides access to a vast network of public charging points designed for electric vehicles, making it straightforward to keep your EVs and hybrids powered up. These cards, also known as RFID cards, use radio frequency identification technology to simplify the charging process.
To charge, plug in your vehicle and tap your card on the charger to start and stop the session. The RFID card transmits unique data to the charge point, which automatically identifies the user and processes the payment. The cost is then added to your weekly invoice, keeping expenses seamless and easy to manage.
Charge cards are convenient for drivers on the road and can also be used with workplace EV chargers. Businesses may restrict access to specific users—such as employees during the week—or open chargers to the public at other times to generate additional revenue.
