Problem

A customer was the victim of an overnight burglary at their depot in Yorkshire. Staff returned to work one morning to find that the depot had been broken into and nine small machines, valued at £150,000 in total, had been stolen by thieves using a large curtain-sided vehicle.

Action & Results

Thankfully, one of the stolen machines was a micro excavator that had recently been fitted with a Radius asset recovery tracker. When the theft was reported to our 24/7 recovery hotline, our Investigations Unit quickly pinpointed the location of the micro excavator with the Radius tracker and dispatched the closest Investigator.

Within 20 minutes, the Investigator was on site and found not only the stolen excavator, but also five additional stolen machines that did not have trackers fitted. We let the customer know and some of their staff came to join our Investigator and recover their property.

Thanks to the asset tracker, the customer was able to recover almost 70% of the stolen equipment, cutting their potential loss by nearly £100,000. The customer was incredibly relieved and grateful for how quickly we were able to respond and help recover the items.
