In July 2024, our Investigations 24/7 theft hotline received a call from a customer in the Milton Keynes area reporting a stolen twin drum roller. The equipment had been taken from a construction site at a local university, causing work to come to a halt.

Action & Results

Our team acted quickly, accessing telematics data from the onboard wired-in tracker to confirm the time of the theft and pinpoint the location where the onboard wired-in tracker had been disabled. Thankfully, the client had installed one of our Radius asset recovery trackers, which the thieves had missed. The team set the Radius tracker into theft mode, identified its latest location, and dispatched the closest Radius Investigator.

Shortly before our Investigator arrived, he received an update that the unit's GPS signal was now coming from a large housing estate, not far from the university. Upon arrival, our Investigator identified several private garages attached to a block of flats and asked local police to attend. Using the homing beacon from the asset recovery tracker and the specialised equipment carried by all of our Investigators, we were able to narrow the search to a specific garage.

With police assistance and witness reports, we were able to open the garage and recover not only the stolen roller but also an untracked dumper that had been hidden alongside it. Thanks to our proactive approach and advanced tracking technology, we were able to recover the stolen machinery in just over an hour and a half, saving the client over £15,000 in replacement costs.
